To deliver optimal care for more than eight million members, the largest care provider to U.S. service men and women needed a strategy to update its application infrastructure, improve operational effectiveness, care satisfaction and overall business value. xScion assessed the client’s application portfolio and created a roadmap to achieving long-term improvement goals.

The Challenge

The client sought a comprehensive assessment of their application portfolio consisting of 200 clinical applications across 150 medical centers and 768 outpatient centers. Strategic direction was needed to assess and prioritize investments and enhancements based on operational effectiveness, patient satisfaction and business value.

The Change

After evaluating 190 data sources for business and product impact, xScion created a comprehensive list of the client’s products by assessing functionality of applications in current and proposed future portfolios and categorizing products by portfolio, lifecycle phase, product type, business function and strategic initiative.

The Value

After assessing the highest value applications against specific improvement projects, xScion created a strategic, nationwide modernization plan. A roadmap was developed across all entities to prioritize investment and resource allocation according to the long-term objectives. Tangible milestones were included so the client has a clear path toward long-term improvement and success.
